Finally I was able to make it out for another of the famous Twincam.org cruises up and over Mt Glorious! And what a day it was, perfect weather and loads of cool cars and great people. I actually didn't think I would make it, the night before was a little too much for me, but thankfully Steve got me going and 'forced' me to come along!
Arriving at Aspley McDonalds we were greeted by a large group of cars, most of which weren't even Toyotas! There was everything from a very nice R32 Skyline, two lovely Lancer GSRs (one of which I was later lucky enough to be driven in) and assorted other makes and models thrown in. The one thing binding us all together was the love of driving, so off we headed for the hills.
Everyone knows the well trodden path over Mt Glorious by now, so it was a pretty good run all the way to our favourite picnic area on the other side of the mountain. We picked another few cars along the way at various meeting spots, by the time we arrived there must have been over twenty cars. A very good turn out I thought, especially given the quality of cars on display.
Next up was the BBQ! Big thanks to Steve and Darren for cooking up a great feed for everyone, and also a big thanks to all those who threw in a few dollars to help pay for the food and drinks. Thankfully there was a few dollars left over at the end which will go towards the running of the website and forums.
Once the food had settled it was time for some exercise. As is now tradition, the soccer ball came out and we split into two supposedly equal teams. I'm not sure who won, but I think everyone had a pretty good time running around and enjoying some fresh air.
After that it was time to relax and meet some new faces and have a chat, then it was back into the cars for the return trip. Thankfully the run back over the mountain was as trouble free as the trip there, I'm always a happy man when that happens! A quick stop to regroup and say our farewells in Samford and we all went our separate ways.
I'd like to say a huge thankyou to Steve for organising most of the cruise and cooking the BBQ with Darren, and further thanks to Darren for taking me back over the mountain in the GSR, I am liking 4WD turbo a lot! Also thanks to Justin for enjoying a few cans of bourbon with me in his lovely turbo Corolla, and another thanks to Steve for driving the two of us around whilst we don't have licenses! And finally thanks to all who attended and continue to support the forums, sorry I didn't get a chance to meet everyone, but there's always next time. See you then…
